Rolf Binder Highness 2011 12.5%	Riesling	Eden Valley South Australia	Great Grog	£12.49	On the nose intense honeysuckle, white pepper and coriander. It is dry, light with a good concentration of citrus and a hint of sweetness. Zesty finish.
Cape Crest Te Mata 2010 13.5%	Sauvignon Blanc	Hawke’s Bay New Zealand	Majestic	£19.99	Te Mata has barrel-fermented their Cape Crest Sauvignon with small amounts of Semillon and Sauvignon Gris for a more interesting wine. A subtle use of oak adds creaminess to the wine, passion fruit and nectarine, very well balanced.	3^rd = 9 points Best White
Domaine de Vieux Vauvert 2011 12%	Chenin Blanc	Vouvray Loire France	Waitrose	£8.99	The label medium dry does not do this lovely wine justice. Well balanced with honeysuckle perfume, luscious autumn fruit, and a tangy finish.	Best Value
House Pinot Noir 2012 13%	Pinot Noir	Romania	Sainsbury’s	£4.99	A Beaujolais-weight Carpathian juice bomb. Cheap and cheerful, full of baked jam fruits.

Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir 2010 13.5%	Pinot Noir	Hemel-en-Aarde Vale Cape of Good Hope S.A	Great Grog	£28.20	One of the best New World presentations of the grape, very Burgundian in style. Medium ruby in colour, youthful but already complex with soft well balanced acidity.	1st 21 points
Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2008 15%	Corvina Veronese 70% Rondinella 20% Molinara 10%	Veneto Italy	Sainsbury’s	£22.99	On the nose, red and dark fruit, spices and cocoa, to taste full bodied, sweet red and dark fruit, raisins, spice and some chocolate. A fruit cake in a bottle.	2nd 14 points
Vina Ardanza Rioja Reserva Especial 2001 13.5%	Grenache Tempranillo	Rioja Spain	Majestic	£22.00	A full bodied wine, fragrant and silky, carefully aged in oak and bottle. Intense red cherry, cedar and spice on the nose. Fruit and perfectly pitched vanilla richness leading through to a juniper berry finish.	3^rd = 9 points
Arnaud de Villeneuve Ambre Hors d’Age Rivesaltes 1985 15.6%	Grenache 90% Muscat 10%	Roussillon France	Waitrose	£13.99	An intriguing and delicious wine, a lovely bronze colour, on the nose sun dried fruit and honey. To taste, the weight of an elegant sherry, notes of dried figs and walnuts and a touch of herbs in the background. We drank it chilled with ginger cake.
