Couly Dutheil La Diligence Chinon 2011

Chinon AOP
Elegant Loire red from renowned estate.
La Diligence is made from grapes hand-picked from a five hectare plot to the west of Chinon. Elegant and concentrated, yet soft and charming, it’s a classic example of Chinon.

Couly Dutheil is one of the most famous names in Chinon. It was established by Baptiste Dutheil in 1921 and is today run by the 4th generation. They own some of the finest vineyards in Chinon including Clos de l’Echo and Clos de l’Olive.

Chinon is made from Cabernet Franc, a grape that performs at its best in the Loire. Fresh, fragrant and silky, these elegant reds deserve to be much better known

The 2011 vintage won a gold medal at the Concours General Agricole 2013
Blackcurrant aromas on the nose with slight peppery notes. Very good concentration of fruit on the palate, blackberry and dark cherry and a touch of spice with a good acidity to keep a freshness to the palate. The tannins are structured to give a well rounded Chinon that is a perfect accompaniment to roast lamb dishes.
